Our Green Mission

We are conscious that the actions of each and every one of us have an impact on the environment. At Aslaich we are committed to providing an excellent quality of service for our guests whilst also minimising the environmental impact of our business activities. By doing so we hope (albeit in a small way) to help maintain the surrounding beauty and wildlife of Lewiston, Drumnadrochit and Loch Ness for the enjoyment of all who live here and visit.

A symbol of our commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Under this scheme we have achieved a Silver Award, a good grading of which we are extremely proud of.

At Aslaich we aim to:-

  • Adhere to good environmental practise in all business activities
  • Ensure that the business meets the minimum requirements set by environmental law and fulfil its legal duty of care requirements for waste disposal
  • Aim to achieve sustainable environmental improvement

To achieve this, we have implemented a variety of general measures as follows:-
  • Use of household cleaning products which do not harm the environment
  • Use of environmentally soaps and detergents for laundering bed linen and towels
  • Ensuring that efficient use of energy is undertaken within the business by purchasing "A" energy rated appliances
  • Purchasing of a range of recycled goods
  • Recycling a numerous household products
  • Using energy saving lighting
  • Providing a natural habitat which encourages wildlife
  • Promoting a no smoking environment for the benefit of our guests
  • Providing adequate information for visitors explaining how we are
    helping the environment.

Here are some examples of the actions we take to help the environment:

  • Recycling of paper, cardboard, glass, cans and food waste
  • Recycling of toner cartridges
  • Guest towel policy whereby we only change towels when requested to do so by guests
  • Monitoring of electricity consumption
